THE LOOK: ARTIFICE by MAC for Spring/Summer 2009
Artifice is about makeup “that doesn’t necessarily make the girl look more conventionally beautiful but certainly makes her look fresh” says Tom Pecheux, Makeup Artist.

In The Makeup Says: This look was seen on the runways of Veronique Branquinho, Proenza Schoeler, Giles, Neem Khan, and Tuleh. We like that the look is about “finding beauty in the more bizarre,” but we do insist that, unless the occassion is something like a nightclub, one should always take a look from runway to realway – so be sure to use a light touch when applying fluidline to the lower lashline, balance the eye with a good amount of mascara, and personalize the look’s lip color. If Morange comes off as “too much,” try MAC’s Devoted Poppy Lip Compact (3 coral lips to mix up to your perfect shade) or Dazzleglass in Miss Dynamite (a sheer orange-y copper with pearl).
